Men Who Cook & Men Who Mix (#MWCAM) is one of RiverOaks’ largest annual fundriasers.This event invites local food enthusiasts, chefs and guys who simply love to cook to prepare their favorite food or drink recipes for taste testing.

The event draws a crowd of well over 500 people each year. Dubbed as a ‘community favorite,’ MWCAM is a ton of fun for all involved..... from the chefs to its' organizers. If you want to showcase your culinary expertise or if you want a plethora of taste testing options, attend this annual event - always held on the third Saturday in May! (In our best Justin Wilson voice) ‘We guarantee’ you won’t leave hungry!!

Enrollment for Summer Arts Studios opens to Members March 20th for children ages 5-13.  Sessions size is limited to 45 children.  These session tend to fill-up fast.  Enrollment opens to non-members of River Oaks on April 3rd.  You can downlaod the reservation form and enrollment form from this website.  Mail them in or call us at 318.437.2670 to pay over the phone. “Painting in Paradise” 

Bonus Attraction: Luau

Bodies of water will be the inspiration for this session. Create and taste food inspired by the ocean communities while mixed media and painting projects will take on a aquatic nature. Rivers, Lakes and oceans can inspire and nourish your soul. Campers will finish this session with a big Luau, so put on your best Hawaiian shirt and grass skirt and come join the party.

“Celestial Inspirations”

Bonus Attraction: Space Aliens & Cowboys

We will be looking up for inspiration in this session. Pottery, painting, mixed-media projects will all have that celestial vibe. Studio Groups will compete in the space race and finish up the session with a Space Alien and Cowboys themed day of costumes contest, food and games.

“Forest Aspirations”

Bonus Attraction: The Mad Hatter Tea Party

The forest and the animals that live there are the inspiration for the artwork and activities in this session. From forest painted landscapes to toadstool houses in the ceramics studio the forest will be our muse. Session four’s Mad-hatter Tea Party is always a hit with the campers. So don’t be late for a very important date and get ready to believe in the impossible.

Porch Sale

 The Annual Porch Sale is located in the historic Bolton Home which also houses the Center’s Gallery Gift Shop. The Annual Porch Sale is held on a major shopping weekend so guests have the opportunity to purchase unique, original works of art just in time for the gift giving season.  Works may range from pottery, paintings, sculpture, fiber arts, mobiles, jewelry, photographs, mixed media etc.  Every year the Sale expands to feature new artists from across the state.  River Oaks is also home to a sales gallery which features exclusive works by the Louisiana Crafts Guild. Numerous artists are on-site during the event with sales tables and demonstration features.  

The Annual Porch Sale Shopping Event on Saturday, December 1st from 9am - 3pm in the Bolton Home & Studio Annex Building featuring Original works of art just in time for the gift giving season!
