River Oaks announces Summer Arts Studio lineup

New Membership Benefits include early Registration starting March 19
“With the first session of Summer Arts Studio starting in less than 90 days, we want to make sure everyone has enough time to register. Last year we had so many sign-ups, we had to turn people away.”, says Aubrey Bolen, River Oaks’ Artistic Director at River Oaks. “What we have lined up this year can only be described as the most creative thing to ever hit summer camps in Central Louisiana.”

Professors Instruct

"Professors Instruct" – River Oaks Artists and Patrons ready to listen and learn
Unique lineup of classes, exhibits and lectures come to River Oaks in April

The way Scott Lykens sees it, a teacher teaches – but a professor instructs. An art professor at the University of Arkansas at Monticello, Lykens currently teaches sculpture and art appreciation. He is better known on a national level for his ceramics and pottery – having had his works published in two books and entered into several prestigious invitationals.

Jahnke Exhibit Shows Uncommon Perspective On Fast Food

February 22 Exhibit Opening at River Oaks features Nicholls State Professor with exhibit of prints and paintings

Ross Jahnke has been influenced by artists like Jim Dine, Jacob Eli, and June Wayne, but for his exhibit entitled “Fast Food” it is probably most appropriate to quote artist Wayne Thiebaud: “Common objects become strangely uncommon when removed from their context and ordinary ways of being seen.” In his latest exhibit, Jahnke presents the visitor with the unique combination of traditional oil painting and printmaking he is known for.
