Themed Thursday: Opening the Storybook
Join us as we open the storybook and see what exaggerated characters we find having a party in the main gallery.
Tall Tales are a story with unbelievable elements - related as if it were true and factual. Some tall tales are exaggerations of actual events. Events are often told in a way that makes the narrator seem to have been a part of the story; the tone is generally good-natured.
Examples:

Davy Crockett and the Great Mississippi Snag.
Pecos Bill.
Miss Sally Ann and the Panther.

Themed Thursday: Emerald City Ball
This Thursday you are all invited to a celebration in the Emerald City of Oz. Most of its citizens wear green but if you want to be any of the characters from any other fairy tale that would be even better.
Fairy Tales are a short story that typically feature magic, enchantments and mythical or fanciful beings.
Examples:
Cinderella.
Beauty and the Beast.
Rapunzel. ..
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
Little Red Riding Hood.
Jack and the Beanstalk.
Sleeping Beauty.
Puss in Boots.
Wizard of Oz

Themed Thursday: The Yeti ExpeditionWill you be the hunter or the hunted? Thursday we launch our expedition in search of the yeti. Campers can dress for the hunt or be the hunted and become a mysterious creature that lurks in the shadows.
Legends are a story that gets its inspiration in real historical fact and embellishes what is real.

Themed Thursday: The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party
This is the granddaddy of all our themed Thursdays. Feel free to dress up as any character from Alice in Wonderland. The Mad Hatter is waiting for you to arrive at his tea party so don’t be late for this very important date.
Fables are a narrative form, usually featuring animals that behave and speak as human beings, told in order to highlight human follies and weaknesses. A moral—or lesson for behavior—is woven into the story and often explicitly formulated at the end.

The daily studio group challenges instill all the benefits that come from team-building - teamwork, communication, leadership, confidence, responsibility trust, respect, and create a unique culture at camp.
The Board of directors of River Oaks donates a camp t-shirt to every camper. These commemorative camp shirts are brought home after Tie-Dye Tuesday.
Our ceramics and painting studios are modern and fully equipped. Our instructors are working artists and our Group Leaders & L.I.T.s are alumni of this Summer Arts Studio Program. We are certainly excited about the upcoming summer and hope you choose to send your young artist to Summer Arts Studio for one or more of our unique sessions.
•All Day Campers can be dropped off at 7:45 am
•Classes are from 1:00 - 4:30 pm Monday through Friday.
•Drop off for classes begins at 12:30 pm.
•Pick up after classes are from 4:30-5:15 pm.
We will not be able to provide lunches for all-day campers. All-day campers will need to bring their own lunch in a lunchbox with their name on it. We still provide a morning snack.

If you are a Summer Arts Studio Alumni you can start volunteering at age 14.
